They tell me that Spring will come to Franklin County in another month or so? Can that be possible? Anyway, we will be landing back at Lake Carmi on May 1 or thereabouts, hopefully the ice will be out. 
 
As you may know the Lake Carmi Campers Association is sponsoring the first annual ice out contest this spring.  We are selling tickets to guess the correct date and time that the ice goes out. How do we know? They have placed a device on the lake that is connected to the shore by rope, when that device falls into the lake the ice is out, at least that is the official date and time.  There is an alarm clock tied to the rope that will be unplugged to show the time. It is plugged into a home that is occupied year around in Sandy Bay. Steve Jewett says that last year the ice went out on April 21, most Franklin folks say that it can go anytime from the end of March to the beginning of May. 
 
Tickets for the first annual Ice Out are in the email to you.  I am sending each of you 5 "virtual" tickets at $1.00 each, with this email.  If you guess the right date and time, or closest to it, then you get half the pot. The Lake Carmi Association water quality programs get the other half. I would certainly appreciate your participation in this event to help Lake Carmi.  Take a chance, spend $5.00, who knows, you could be the winner. I don't know how many have been sold, the more sold the bigger the pot.  Please  make your guesses and get your entries back to me in the next few days. When I get your guesses, date and times, I'll make out your tickets and mail you the stubs. 
 
I need you to send me your check for $5.00 or whatever amount you decide to purchase. Of course if you want more than $5.00, there are plenty of tickets available. Who knows how long the ice will last. You can sell these to friends too, the more the merrier.
 
If you would like your tickets to be made out in others names, ie. grand children, children, etc. make sure you indicate such. I need name, address, and your guesses for the date and time that you are entering. Thank you so much.
